We love: Chanel

by - Januar 10, 2016

Well, talking about Chanel I guess I don't have to introduce you to one of the most famous brands worldwide. Everyone is familiar with the empire Madame Coco created. Everything has been said about her, from her childhood in an orphanage to her many lovers, from where her name was coming from to how she founded her company. Everything has been written about her already, that she was a fashion rebel, how she challenged society back in her days, that she was a feminist ahead of her time, that she invented the little black dress. You think #girlboss is a new thing? Coco did it already a 100 years ago.

Since Anti.Muse is a blog dedicated to alternative fashion, you might ask now, what the hell has got a luxury brand like Chanel to do with alternative fashion? Let me tell you, all and nothing. Alternative fashion to me is about being creative, it's about personality and fun. So why not get inspired by the power women Coco Chanel was and why not get inspired by the iconic looks of her brand? Also isn't if funny, ironic and kind of an ode to the spirit of alternative fashion to spray-paint a big Chanel logo on the back of your punk vest? See, this is what I'm talking about, having fun.

So what makes the Chanel look and how can you do it the alternative way?

  •  wear a combination of black and white items
  • combine a classy piece like a jacket or a blouse, with something edgy (with a solid pair of boots or your favourite ripped jeans for instance)
  • ad tons of pearls and jewelry
  • play with details (ad a statement belt or put a bow in your hair for instance)
  • strike the pose and bring the attitude

  5. I totally think the Chanel look could be considered alternative, I mean, the black, the chains, the pearls! Alternative or not, it's my favorite look for all occasions and all ages, I can totally see myself rocking that look when I'm an older lady :)

  6. Btw, I own a huge fake plastic Chanel bracelet, it was considered "scene" at the time, and I enjoyed every bit of it! :D
