Anti.Muse: Events

Es gibt Kunst, die haut einen um und es gibt Kunst da passiert es nicht. Bei diesem Gallery Weekend ist es nicht passiert. Wie ich in meinem Artikel über die in Berlin lebende Künstlerin Vera Kochubey geschrieben habe, liebe ich es, wenn Kunst mich etwas fühlen lässt - das gilt für einen Song, für geschriebene Worte, einen Film, eine Performance - was auch immer man als Kunst bezeichnen mag. Ich mag es, wenn es mich bewegt, vielleicht sogar in einer etwas unbequemen Art und Weise. Beim diesjährigen Gallery Weekend habe ich solche Gefühle nicht erlebt, dennoch gab es einige schöne Momente und Eindrücke, die ich mit euch teilen will. Lasst uns zum Beispiel reden über die janinebeangallery mit ihrem surrealistischen Salon in dem unter anderem Werke von Inna Artemova, Grigori Dor, Kathrin Günter und Dario Puggioni zu sehen waren, lasst uns über die Ausstellung "Show us your type" von kulturspace im "Secret Garden Berlin", einem alten in 2008 erst wiederentdecktem Ballsaal reden, lasst uns von den "Heckmann Höfen" reden, die ich nur wegen einer Steve Lyons und Nikolai Goodich Ausstellung entdeckt habe.

Alles in allem schätze ich das Gallery Weekend sehr als eine Institution, die ein mal im Jahr in aller Breite Kunst Menschen zugänglich macht, die in ihr ganz einfach Freude, Trost oder Inspiration finden, anstatt aus ihr dieses exklusive Ding zu machen, dass nur für die Upper Class bestimmt ist. There is art that blows you away and there is art that doesn't. For this years Gallery Weekend I didn't really got blown away nor did I got thrilled. Like I said in my article about the Berlin based artist Vera Kochubey, I love it when art makes me feel something, this goes for a song, a performance, written words, a movie, a painting - whatever you think to consider art. I love it when it moves me, even in an uncomfortable or brutal way, I like to be shaken up. No such feelings did occur while strolling through some galleries for this years Gallery Weekend, no big excitement, no falling in love respective kneeling down, but there still have been some nice impressions and moments I want to share with you. For instance let's talk about janinebeangallery and their surrealistic, dreamy salon featuring works of Inna Artemova, Grigori Dor, Kathrin Günter or Dario Puggioni, let's talk about the "Show us your type" show by kulturspace in the "Secret Garden Berlin", an old ballroom rediscoverd only in 2008, let's talk about the "Heckmann Höfe" I just discoverd because of the Steve Lyons and Nikolai Goodich exhibit taking place there.

All in all I appreciate Gallery Weekend so much as an institution, making art accessible for people who simply find comfort, joy and inspiration in it, instead of making it this super upper class exclusive thing. Did you ever go to Gallery Weekend? What does art mean to you?

Ein paar Worte zu meinem Gallery Weekend Outfit: Ich liebe schwarz, aber manchmal ist mir nach einem grellen, quietschendem, selbstbewusstem pink. Dieses mal habe ich es mit meinen roten Leopard Jeans von Dr. Denim kombiniert, mit meinen schwarzen Boots, meiner Lederjacke und meiner geliebten Barbie Kette von Extreme Largeness. Die Sonnenbrille ist von Sunday Somewhere, der pinke Body ist Second Hand.

About my Gallery Weekend outfit: I adore black, but sometimes I need a bright, screaming and empowering pink. This time I paired it up with my red Dr. Denim leopard pants in best colourblocking manner, with my black boots, my leather jacket and my beloved Barbie necklace from Extreme Largeness. Sunglasses are from sunday somewhere, pink swimsuit is thrifted.

Heute habe ich ein paar Eindrücke von Thoas Lindners Studio Opening für euch. Wer ist Thoas Lindner? Ein in Berlin lebender Künstler, der in unterschiedlichen Bereichen tätig ist. Nachdem er lange Zeit für die Men's Kollektionen des Labels Butterflysoulfire zuständig war, hat er sich ein Jahr Auszeit gegönnt, war in Indien und fing an zu schreiben. Zurück im Modebusiness hat Thoas Lindner nun sein eigenes Label, Thoas Lindner, begründet. Und was kann man erwarten von diesem Label? Ich sage, so einiges. Von avantgardistischer Unisex Mode in schwarz und weiß über Skulpturen bis hin zu einem Buch und Poetry-Karten kennt Thoas Lindner keine Grenzen was Kunst und das Kreieren eben solcher betrifft. Sein neues Studio ist im Berliner Stadtteil Prenzlauer Berg, in der Kastanienallee 73 im ersten Hinterhof. Die Eröffnung des Studios wurde am zweiten Oktober gefeiert, mit Musik, einigen Drinks und einem Sample Sale. Thoas Lindners Buch, seine Karten, Skulpturen und seine Kollektionen bekommt man übrigens auch im LNFA Shop in der Konzept-Mall Bikini Berlin.

I guess I'm late on this one but still I wanted to share with you my impressions from Thoas Lindners studio opening in early october. This guy really is a creative force in many fields. But let's start from the beginning. After designing the men's collections for former Berlin cult label Butterflysoulfire for about a decade, Thoas Lindner took one year off from the fashion world, he went to India and started writing. Getting back to business, Linder went on with creating and designing, for it's in his blood. He now has his own label Thoas Lindner. And what to expect from his new label you might want to know now, I'll tell you, a lot. From avantgardistic unisex fashion in black an white to intense contemporary poetry and freaky sculptures, Thoas Lindner is back at full force. His new studio and store is located in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg in Kastanienallee 73 in the 1st backyard. The opening of the studio was celebrated on friday, the 2nd of october, with some music, drinks and a sample sale. You can also find Thoas Lindners book, his cards, sculptures and fashion at LNFA store in the Bikini Berlin concept mall.

Heute teile ich mit euch meine letzten Impressionen der Berlin Alternative Fashion Week, zumindest die vom Catwalk, denn ein kleiner Report vom Designer Market, der parallel statt fand und einige Looks der Besucher habe ich noch für euch. Die Berlin Alternative Fashion Week findet 2x jährlich statt und präsentiert verschiedene Designer aus dem Bereich Alternative Fashion in den sogenannten "Alchemy" Shows und einem Designer Markt. Die Stile der unterschiedlichen Designer sind dabei ganz verschieden, von Punk bis Avantgarde, von futuristisch bis Goth ist so einiges dabei, was alternativ und anders ist. Von den ersten beiden Shows hatte ich in den letzten Tagen schon berichtet, heute gibt es nun meine Eindrücke von der letzten "Alchemy" Show.

Today I will share my last impressions of Berlin Alternative Fashion Week with you, at least when it comes to the shows, I still have a little report of the designer market and some visitors looks for you coming. Berlin Alternative Fashion Week takes place two times a year to showcase and support several designers out of the field of Alternative Fashion. The range of styles is huge, from punk to avantgarde, von futuristic to goth. I was already giving you my impression on the first two so called "Alchemy" shows, I know come up, with my report about the last "Alchemy" show.

Futuristic Type

Wie Cyborgs liefen die Models bei Futuristic Type über den Laufsteg um die casual Streetwear des Labels stilgerecht zu präsentieren. Glänzende Materialien, moderne, klare Schnitte - Futuristic Type, der Name des Labels ist Programm. || The models of the Futuristic Type show looked like Cyborgs while presenting the casual streetwear collection of the label in an adequate manner. Shiny material and clean, modern cuts - Futuristic Type the name of the label is program.

Nieuw Jurk

Nieuw Jurk ist ein Amsterdamer Label, das sehr von Jugendkulturen beeinflusst ist. Der Slogan "Stay weid", der auf ein T-Shirt der präsentierten Kollektion gedruckt war, repräsentierte nicht nur das Label, sondern auch die gesamte Berlin Alternative Fashion Week ziemlich gut. || Nieuw Jurk is an Amsterdam based label highly inspired by youth culture. The slogan "Stay weid", printed on a t-shirt of the collection presented, not only represented this show very well but also the whole Berlin Alternative Fashion Week.

Tata Christiane

Tata Christiane ist ein bemerkenswertes Label, moderne Schnitte treffen hier auf außergewöhnliche Prints, ein großer Tragekomfort kommt hinzu. Man kann sich sicher sein, trägt man Tata Christiane, wird man immer nach dem Designer der Kleidung gefragt. || Tata Christiane is an outstanding label, modern cuts meet extraordinary prints, a huge wearing comfort included. One thing you can be sure of wearing a Tata Christiane piece, everyone will ask you for the designer.

Ivanna Pilja

Ivanna Pilja hat auf dem Catwalk für ein wahres Spektakel gesorgt, Entwürfe von architektonischem Ausmaß mit Prints die an optische Täuschungen erinnern wurden dem gespannten Berliner Publikum präsentiert. || The Ivanna Pilja show was a real spectacle with designs of architectural dimensions and Victor Vasarely-esque prints in the true sense of Op-Art. The Berlin audience honoured this presentation with big applause.

Ich hab's euch versprochen und nun ist es soweit: hier ist Teil zwei meiner Berlin Alternative Fashion Week Reportage. Während ich im ersten Teil vor allem vom punky Gegenstrom-Label IndyAnna berichtet habe, wird es heute nachhaltig, nochmal bunt, einheitlich schwarz, aber immer ausgefallen, denn das ist, wofür die Berlin Alternative Fashion Week steht, für Mode die einen Gegenentwurf zum Mainstream darstellt.

I promised and here it is, the second part of my little series about Berlin Alternative Fashion Week. My first part was about the first show "Alchemy 1", featuring several designers, including punky Berlin based label IndyAnna. Today I want to tell you about the second show, "Alchemy 2", and show you some of my highlights, from sustainalble to colourful, to all black, always unusual, cause that is, what Berlin Alternative Fashion Week stands for - creative fashion as an alternative to the mainstream.

Re-Cycle Style by Kumiko Tani

Re-Cycle Style ist das Brainchild von Kumiko Tani. Der Central Saint Martin Absolventin geht es unter anderem darum, mit ihrem Label das Image von Recycling zu verändern, das dürfte mit diesen aufwändigen Kostümen doch gar kein Problem sein, oder?! || Re-Cycle Style is the brainchild of Kumiko Tani. The Central Saint Martin graduate aims to change the image of recycling with her label, her exuberant costumes already got noticed in the fashion and art world, for instance Re-Cycle style was already featured in Dazed & Confused.

Tzuji

Das Label Tzuji hat für ein buntes Feuerwerk der Farben auf dem Catwalk gesorgt, mir haben die Comic-Prints am besten gefallen. Dass Larry Tee, Begründer des Labels, früher als DJ um die Welt gereist ist, spiegelt sich meines Erachtens in seiner Kollektion wieder, die sorglos und unbekümmert daher kommt. || Tzuji's presentation was a colourful explosion on the catwalk. My personal favourites have been the comic printed items. Larry Tee, founder of the label, was once traveling the world as a DJ and I have to say, one could feel a certain kind of clubkid spirit on the catwalk throughout the presentation.

Vita Datura

Vita Datura ist mir schon am Nachmittag auf dem Designer Market aufgefallen, demnach war ich besonders gespannt, was mich bei der Fashion Show des Berliner Labels erwarten würde. Die sichtbare Destruktion und Re-Konstruktion, das Neudenken und Neuerfinden von Altem stand auch bei dieser Show im Mittelpunkt, genauso wie die Farbe schwarz, die bei Vita Datura den Catwalk dominierte. || I already came across Vita Datura while visiting the Designer Market as part of Berlin Alternative Fashion Week during the shows, so I was curious about their presentation later. In the center of their show has been elements like deconstruction, re-construction and re-thinking the old as well as the colour black, which domineted the catwalk during the Vita Datura show.

"Eine Frau, ein Stil, ein Film." scheibt die Elle über "Mademoiselle C"und das stimmt auch. Überzeugen kann man sich schnell davon, denn man kann in der gleichnamigen Fashion Dokumentation der großartigen Carine Roitfeld bei der Produktion der ersten Ausgabe ihres eigenen Magazines, des CR Fashion Books, beiwohnen. Man sitzt quasi mit in den spannenden Meetings und ist auch bei atemberaubenden Shootings live mit dabei. Mir persönlich haben die Sequenzen am besten gefallen in denen Carine Roitfeld und Tom Ford zusammen arbeiten - man spürt die kreativen Funken regelrecht über die Leinwand fliegen wenn man die beiden beim Schaffen und Tun beobachtet - ein einfach herrlicher und inspirierender Anblick.

Am vergangen Donnerstag hatte thefineline Kreativmarketing im Rahmen des Live Networking for Fashion & Art zur exklusiven Deutschland Preview von "Mademoiselle C" ins Wyndham Berlin Excelsior geladen. Natürlich waren wir von Anti.Muse dabei um für euch berichten zu können. Obendrauf gab es noch eine kleine aber feine Fashion Präsentation aus der "Heavenly Bodies" Collection von Dawid Tomaszewski - klassisch, elegant und düster.

"Ich wurdespießig erzogen: im Winter keine weißen Schuhe tragen, schwarz nie mit weiß kombinieren. Ich habe keine Tattoos, keine Piercings, hatte nie orange Haare - ich habe in meinen Bildern rebelliert." Carine Roitfeld

"The ultimate fashion insider trip." says Marie Claire about "Mademoiselle C" and that's true. You can see for yourself when you watch the fabulous fashion documentary about the great Carine Roitfeld. You take part in the production of the first edition of her own magazine, the CR Fahion Book. It's like you're sitting next to her in all of the meetings and you take part in some breathtaking photo shoots too. My favourite scenes were the ones, where Carine works together with one of her closest friends, Tom Ford. It's such a pleasure to see these two creative forces spinning around together, it's almost magical and very inspiring.

Last thursday the fineline Kreativmarketing invited some people out of the berlin fashion scene to see the exclusive german preview of "Mademoiselle C" in the Wyndham Berlin Excelsior. To round this up, there was even more fashion. We had the chance to see a little fashion presentaion of some of the pieces of Dawid Tomaszewskis collection "Heavenly Bodies" - dark, classic and elegant.
