Ok, ich bin auf einem großen Big Bang Theory Trip zur Zeit. Also war es eine Frage der Zeit bis ein Nerd-Post kommt. Wir alle sind ein bisschen Big Bang, oder? Der eine hat große, irrationale Angst vor Spinnen, der andere hat immer sein Sagrotan dabei. Einer hat eine Laktoseintoleranz, der andere ist riesen Marvel Fan. Harry Potter Fan? Star Wars Fan? Herr der Ringe Fan? Book Nerd? Art Bastard? Movie Maniac? Serien Junkie? Wir alle pflegen und umhegen unseren inneren Nerd. In einer Welt die sich immer schneller dreht braucht jeder seinen kleinen Spleen an dem er sich festhalten kann. In Zeiten in denen die Nerdbrille zum Hipster-Accessoire Nummer eins geworden ist, hat Nerd sein Coolness-Faktor. Schauen wir also mal, was der Kleiderschrank eines Nerds so hergeben kann - vielleicht ist ja was für euch dabei? Wofür schlägt euer Nerdherz? Was sind spleenige Angewohnheiten, die ihr pflegt?

I personally think, latex is very sexy, exquisite and noble. More and more you can see latex fashion on catwalks and in high gloss magazines. Mixing everyday clothes with latex fashion and accessories is also a very exciting new thing. The designers create their special pieces with so much love and details. Neulich bin ich im www mal wieder über ein großartiges Kunstprojekt gestolpert. Ich fand es so toll, dass ich es einfach mit euch teilen musste. Es ist ein Projekt, das den Tod dahin zurück holt, wo er hingehört, nämlich mitten ins Leben. Es ist doch so, dass er unweigerlich zum Leben gehört, der Tod, und trotzdem ist er in unserer Gesellschaft tabuisiert. Das Projekt "Before I die" möchte zur Auseinandersetzung mit der eigenen Sterblichkeit anregen, es stellt die Frage: "Was willst du noch tun mit deinem Leben?" und engagiert sich somit auch für ein intensiveres Dasein im Hier und Jetzt. Die Künstlerin Candy Chang initiierte das Projekt, nachdem sie selber einen ihr sehr nahe stehenden, lieben Menschen verlor. An Öffentlichen Plätzen hat sie, mit mittlerweile vielen, vielen Mitstreitern, schwarze Wände aufgestellt, auf die Passanten ihre Gedanken, ihre Wünsche an das Leben schreiben können. Weltweit gibt es bereits über 300 "Before I die"-Wände in über 50 Ländern. Ist das nicht toll?! Es gibt auch ein Buch zum Projekt und falls du dich inspiriert fühlst - es gibt sogar ein Toolkit zur Multiplikation. Was möchtest du noch tun oder erleben bevor du stirbst? Hast du dir darüber schon mal Gedanken gemacht? Ich finde das Projekt großartig. Ich habe schon öfters über Fragen wie diese nachgedacht, aber es ist immer wieder von Neuem wichtig sich damit auseinander zu setzen, denn wir haben nur dieses eine Leben. Ich zum Beispiel würde bevor ich sterbe noch liebend gerne skaten und surfen können, ein Instrument erlernen, in einem Haus am Meer leben und freiberuflich Schreiben. Was habt ihr noch für Wünsche? Was würdet ihr auf eine "Before I die"-Wand schreiben?

Lately I discovered an awesome art project in the worldwide web and I was so overwhelmed that I just got to share this with you. It's a project that brings death back where it belongs, right into the middle of life. Cause that's just how it is, death is a part of life, but however it is a taboo in our society. The project "Before I die" wants people to think about their own mortality and with this, it wants people think about their life. The artist Candy Chang started this project, just as she lost someone she really, really loved. In public places, she and her many, many allies, arranged black walls on which people could left their thoughts and wishes for life. There're already 300 "Before I die"-walls worldwide in over 50 countrys. Isn't this fabulous?! There's a book about the project and if you feel animated there's even a toolkit for "Before I die"-walls. What do you want to do or experience before you die? Have you ever thought about that? I think this is a really fabulous project, I do often think about questions like these, what do I want to do with my life, what are my goals if you want so, but it is important to keep on thinking about questions like these, cause we only have one life to live. Before I die, I, for myself, want to learn how to skate and surf, I want to play an instrument, live in a house next to the sea and want to live of writing. What are your wishes? Sie war, neben Courtney Love, in den späten 90igern definitiv das Role Model für mich. Dramatisch, dunkel, stark. Ihr Look düster und tough. Tairrie B. - die Frontfrau der Band My Ruin (früher Tura Satana bzw. Manhole) hat damals mächtig Eindruck bei mir hinterlassen und so widme ich ihr diesen Post und küre sie zur Style Ikone. Immer wieder finden sich in ihrem Look Anspielungen auf das Christentum - die Dornenkrone oder ein Rosenkranz, Kreuze. Wer die Texte von My Ruin kennt (ja, auch die haben mich beeindruckt), weiß wie das zu interpretieren ist. Kurzum kann man sagen ihr Stil ist unverschnörkelt, tiefschwarz und dramatisch. Die Tattoos, die im Laufe der Zeit immer mehr geworden sind, spielen natürlich auch eine große Rolle, ebenso die finstere Miene, ja, Miss B. lacht nie. Weiterhin definieren üppiger Schmuck, die Farbe Schwarz und ein drastisches Make Up ihren Look. Ihr wollt euren inneren Goth rauslassen und seid auf der Suche nach einem intensiven Look ohne Rüschen? Dann lasst euch doch von Miss B. inspirieren!

Beside Courtney Love, she definitely was one of my role models in the late nineties. Dramatic, dark, strong. Her look gloomy and tough. Back then Tarrie B. - leadsinger of My Ruin (former Tura Satana and Manhole) has left an impact on me and so I decided to make her a style icon on my blog (as you remember I started this rubric once with Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Consistently you can find christian symbols in her look - the cown of thorns, a rosary, crosses. Who's familiar with the lyrics she wrote knows how to read that (yes, her writing had an impact on me too). In short one can say her style is straightforward, deep black and dramatic. The tattoos define her look also, as well as her saturnine look, yes, Miss B. never smiles. Futhermore big jewelry, the colour black and a dramatic make up are characteristic. You want to let out you inner goth without any ruffles? Than get inspired by the look of Miss B.

Der August verspricht nochmal heiß zu werden. Bald wird sich der Sommer von uns verabschieden, wie wäre es also nochmal mit einem Ausflug an die See? Das Meer rauscht, die Sonne scheint, eine leichte Brise verspricht Erfrischung. Der Himmel ist blau, am Horizont glänzen weiße Segel. Das passende Outfit für den Spaziergang an der Promenade oder für ein Picknick am Strand fällt selbstverständlich maritim aus, in diesem Sinne: "Hello Sailor und ahoi Miss!" - genießt die letzten Sommertage!

August promises to be hot again. Soon summer is going to say good bye to us, so why not taking a trip to the sea for the last time this summer? The sound of the sea rushing, the sun is shining, a light breeze promises to reduce the heat. The sky is blue, on the horizon there are white sails. The suitable outfit for a walk at the promenade or for a picnic at the beach is clearly maritime. So I say: "Hello sailor and ahoy miss" - enjoy the last days of summer!
