Andy Warhol hatte Geburtstag. Er wäre letzten Donnerstag, am 6. August, 87 Jahre alt geworden. Andy ist schon lange tot, sein Einfluss auf unsere Welt aber nicht. Zentrale Themen seiner Kunst - Konsum und Konsumgesellschaft, Medienverhalten, Voyeurismus - sind nach wie vor relevant und Andy ist mittlerweile selber zum Gegenstand der Popkultur geworden. Grund genug, es sich mit einer Campbells Tomatensuppe vor dem Bildschirm gemütlich zu machen, um eine der vielen Warhol Filme, Interviews oder Dokumentationen zu schauen. || It was Andy Warhols Birthday last week. He would have turned 87 on the 6th of august. Though Andy is long gone, he's still alive. The topics of his art - consumption, consumer society, media hype, voyeurism - are still relevant today. Andy himself is an icon of pop culture nowadays. Reason enough to get cozy on the couch with a Campbells tomato soup in front of the screen, to watch one of his movies or interviews or one of the many documetaries about him.

Schon mal was von Adornism gehört? Ich auch nicht, bis letzten Freitag. Da war ich zum ersten Mal in der Galerie "The Ballery" bei dem Opening einer Gruppenausstellung mit genau dem Titel - und lasst mich euch sagen, es war bunt und überbordend. Was ich gelernt habe ist: Adornism ist der Akt der Überdekoration an sich selbst oder in der Kunst. Mit dabei waren u.a. Künstler wie Daria Marchik, Holly Anne Buck und Rubbish Fairy. Die Finissage findet am 12. August statt. || Did you ever heard of Adornism? Me neither, till last friday when I went to the opening of a groupshow at "The Ballery" called Adornism and let me tell you it was colourful and overwhemlingly exuberant. What I learned that night: Adornism is the act of over decoration in art or self. The exhibit features artists like Daria Marchik, Holly Anne Buck and Rubbish Fairy. The closing is taking part this wednesday, august 12th.
